See every feather. Hear every call. Never miss a moment.
Real birding starts with being able to actually see the bird. Not a blurry smudge in the trees. Not a guess at the colours. The real thing, close, clear and sharp.
We built these binoculars for young birders who are serious about it. Clear optics that show you what you are actually looking at. Compact enough for small hands to hold steady. Tough enough to survive every adventure between now and adulthood.
WHAT MAKES THESE DIFFERENT
Most kids binoculars are toys. The lenses are so poor you can barely make out a bird sitting on a fence post three meters away. We know because we tested them. Every single one was a disappointment.
So what actually happens? Parents end up lending their own good binoculars. The expensive adult pair they are terrified is going to get dropped in a dam.
These are not that. These are proper binoculars scaled for a child, built to last and designed to grow with them as they get more serious about birding.
Suitable from age 4. Grows with them through their teens.
SPECS AND WHAT THEY MEAN
Prism: BaK4 Roof prism
BaK4 is the high quality glass used in professional birding binoculars. It delivers better light transmission and a sharper, more circular image than cheaper BaK7 glass.
Magnification: 8x
The birding standard. Powerful enough to see real detail on a bird in a tree, stable enough for small hands to hold steady without the image shaking. Professional adult birders use 8x for exactly this reason.
Objective lens: 32mm
The front lens that gathers light. 32mm keeps the binoculars compact and lightweight while still delivering a bright, clear image in good daylight conditions. The wider field of view also makes it easier for a child to find the bird they're looking for as they put the binoculars to their eyes.
Close focus: 2m
This is the most important spec for children. Most binoculars focus no closer than 4 to 5 meters, which means blurry images whenever a child looks at something nearby. At 2m your child can focus on a butterfly on a flower, a frog on a rock or a bird in the nearest bush. Everything in their world becomes an adventure.
Field of view: 123m per 1000m
A wider field of view makes it easier to find a bird and track it once spotted. Especially important for children still learning to use binoculars. The wider the field, the more forgiving.
Eye relief: 15mm
The distance between the eyecup and your eye. 15mm works well for children whether or not they wear glasses. Combined with the twist up eyecup, children can adjust to find their most comfortable position.
Exit pupil diameter: 3.13mm
Determines how bright the image looks. Well suited to daylight birding and bright outdoor conditions.
Waterproof: IPX7
IPX7 is full waterproofing, not just splash resistance. This means the binoculars can be submerged in up to 1 meter of water for 30 minutes. For children this means rain, rivers, muddy hands and general adventure are not a problem.
Lens coating: Fully multi coated (FMC)
Multiple anti reflection coatings on all air to glass surfaces. This reduces glare and improves brightness and contrast, making colours more vivid and detail easier to see.
Optical material: All lens and prism made of optical glass
Not plastic. Not acrylic. Real optical glass throughout, which is why the image quality is as good as it is at this price point.
Focusing system: Center focus
One central wheel focuses both sides simultaneously. Simple and intuitive for children to use.
Body: Aluminium with rubber armour
Aluminium body gives real structural rigidity. The rubber outer layer absorbs impacts, provides grip in wet conditions and protects against knocks and drops.
Relative brightness: 10.6
A higher relative brightness means a brighter image in lower light. Useful for early morning or late afternoon birding when birds are most active.
Twilight factor: 13.8
Measures low light performance. The higher the number, the better the binoculars perform at dawn and dusk.
Transmittance: 69%
The percentage of available light that reaches the eye. 69% is solid for this class of binocular.
Ocular adjustment: minus 5 to plus 5 diopter
Allows children to adjust for any difference in vision between their two eyes.
Adjustable eye pupil: 58.4mm to 72mm
The interpupillary distance range. This adjusts the width between the two eyepieces to match the distance between the child's eyes. Works from young children through to adults.
Product size: 112.5 x 109 x 34mm
Compact and easy to hold in smaller hands. Noticeably smaller than a standard adult birding binocular.
Weight: 326g
Light enough for a child to hold comfortably for extended periods.
Includes: Soft carry bag, neck strap, lens cleaning cloth,
